On the annual meeting Charter awarded “Charter Prize 2018” winners. Jury this year was the following: Gela Mtivlishvili, Lika Zakashvili, Maia Merkviladze – Charter’s Council members; Charter Executive Director – Nata Dzvelishvili, chief of party,– Lika Chakhunashvili and AP Journalist Sophiko Megrelidze.
From 70 applications, jury thought that these were the best:
- Video report – Giorgi Bolkvadze – “One Boy was Walking the Road”, mtisambebi.ge;
- Multimedia project – Nino Lomadze, Project 08.08.08, Indigo;
- Article in print or online media – Tatia Khaliani and Sopo Aptsiauri, “City that Got Tired of Grieving”, Liberali;
- Journalistic investigation – Maia Metkhvarishvili “Chinchaladze Clan – Failure of Court Reform”, Studio Monitori;
- Children’s issues – Mariam Abesadze, “Ana, Irina, Elene and others”, Indigo;
- Georgia and Europe – Nino Zuriashvili and Natalia Vakhtangashvvili – “Friendship in Russian”, Studio Monitori
The first four categories contest was with the help of IREX; Children’s issues ethical coverage prize was set by UNICEF; within the campaign “The force is in Europe” a special monetary prize was given by “International Transparency – Georgia”.
