The Charter thinks, that it is important to start investigation into those recordings and decide whether government had any involvement in them or the connection with according people. Governmental structures need to proceed with transparency while communicating with the TV company and its funding company and give society full information.
Iberia has been in emergency broadcasting mode for several days and journalists are saying for the second time this year, that they don’t know whether they will continue working or not. This media situation is not healthy and damages society’s interests, especially in the period before elections. This is the time when citizens are making important political decisions.
The Georgian Charter of Journalistic Ethics asks the founders of TV and the government not to use journalists in the conflict or violate Iberia TV’s journalists’ rights.
